SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Mount Holyoke College placed the maximum six student-athletes on the 2023-24 Academic All-District Women's At-Large Teams, announced Tuesday by College Sports Communicators, including two each from the Lyons field hockey, lacrosse and rowing teams.
Earning Academic All-District honors from Mount Holyoke were lacrosse senior Hannah Bisson (South Hadley, Mass.), rowing junior Lilla Carroll (Birmingham, Ala.), field hockey junior Rachel Katzenberg (Reisterstown, Md.), field hockey senior Amanda Thibodeau (Lebanon, N.H.), lacrosse senior Caroline Thompson (Harwich, Mass.), and rowing senior Emma Waldron (Pittsburgh, Pa.). It is the second year in a row for both Bisson and Waldron in winning the honor.
The 2024 Academic All-District Men's and Women's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly known as CoSIDA), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Bisson graduated in May with a 3.99 cumulative grade point average as an economics major. The two-year lacrosse captain won numerous scholar-athlete honors throughout her career, including the 2024 Laurie Priest Scholar-Athlete Award.
Carroll received Second Team All-NEWMAC honors in 2024 after competing along with Waldron and seven teammates on Mount Holyoke's first varsity eight. The physics major maintains a 3.94 cumulative GPA.
Katzenberg completed her third season as Mount Holyoke's starting goalkeeper, posting career-best numbers in goals-against average (2.64; 8th in the NEWMAC), save percentage (.766; 7th in the NEWMAC) and wins (7). The psychology and education major boasts a 3.94 cumulative GPA.
Thibodeau completed an outstanding academic career at Mount Holyoke with a 3.98 cumulative grade point average as a history major and a Fulbright scholarship. Thibodeau played in 17 games for Mount Holyoke field hockey, making 16 starts at various positions and scoring one goal with one assist.
Thompson started in 16 games for Mount Holyoke lacrosse and ranked among the top six players on the team in draw controls (39), goals (7), and ground balls (19). The politics major graduated with a 3.88 GPA.
Waldron was recently named Mount Holyoke rowing's first All-American since 2011 after winning All-NEWMAC honors in both 2023 and 2024. The biology and environmental studies major graduated with a 4.00 GPA and a Fulbright scholarship, and is Mount Holyoke's nominee for the 2024 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
