Lacrosse falls at No. 11 nationally ranked Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- No. 23 nationally ranked Babson College dominated the first quarter and proceeded to defeat the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team 22-1 on Wednesday night

Seven different players scored for the host Beavers (6-1, 3-0 NEWMAC), while junior captain Madison Millyan (Winchester, Mass.) scored for the visiting Lyons (1-8, 0-2 NEWMAC). Babson has won five straight, and has only lost to No. 1 Middlebury.

Lily Ives and Kathryn Blake tallied three goals and one assist apiece for Babson, while Amelia Novitch added two goals and two assists. Claire Connolly controlled 13 draws for the hosts.

Babson controlled possession throughout the first half, winning all 15 draws, including 11 in the first quarter, and outshooting the Lyons 28-0, including a 19-0 difference in the first quarter.

Mount Holyoke fared better in the second half, getting four shots off and putting three of them on goal while the Beavers scored on eight of their 10 shots over the final 30 minutes.

With 8:21 left in the third quarter, Millyan scored with an assist from senior captain Hannah Bisson (South Hadley, Mass.), her first goal of the season and the 15th of her career.

Sophomore Amelia Knaysi (Grand Junction, Colo.) had four draw controls for Mount Holyoke, while sophomore Emi Bisson (Chester, Conn.) had a draw control and two ground balls. First-year Mackenzie Hillman (Newington, Conn.) was credited with a caused turnover.

First-year Syd Baker (Needham, Mass.) made eight saves to go with two ground balls for Mount Holyoke, while Morgan McGahan made three saves for Babson.

The Lyons return home to face Wheaton College Saturday at 1pm.
