COBLESKILL, N.Y. -- First-year guard Alex Twomey scored a game-high 21 points, but it wasn't enough for the Mount Holyoke basketball team to overcome a 21-0 difference in second-chance points in an 84-56 non-conference loss at SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday.

The host Fighting Tigers (5-5) outrebounded the Lyons (1-7) by a 54-35 margin, and made 33-of-80 field goal attempts (.413), compared to 17-53 (.321) for Mount Holyoke.

Emily Satterday scored 16 points and gathered 17 rebounds for Cobleskill. Talia Washington and Sierra Delaney added 11 apiece from off the bench.

Twomey (Nutley, N.J.) notched her second 20-point game of the season, making 4-8 shots from the floor, 1-2 from three-point territory and 12-15 at the free-throw line. She added a team-high six rebounds. Twomey leads Mount Holyoke in scoring and ranks fourth in the NEWMAC with 14.6 points per game.

Sophomore Cal McGonagle (Yarmouth, Maine) scored nine points for the Lyons, sophomore Marley Berano (Lady Lake, Fla.) added eight points and four assists, and first-year Kendall Maurer (Orinda, Calif.) drilled both of her 3-point attempts to finish with six points and six rebounds from off the bench.

Starting with a three-point play by Satterday, Cobleskill scored nine unanswered points midway through the first quarter to grab a 13-3 lead. Twomey made back-to-back jumpers in the final minute of the quarter to close the gap to 13-7. Leading 15-9 early in the second quarter, the Fighting Tigers went on a 7-0 run to assume a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game. Cobleskill led 36-21 at the half, then extended its lead by six points in the third quarter and by seven more in the fourth.

Mount Holyoke scored 21 points in the fourth quarter -- eight by Twomey, five by Berano -- to finish with a season-high 56 points in the game.

The Lyons play on the road again Thursday at 6pm against Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass.
