SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Springfield College raced out to a 41-8 halftime lead, and the host Pride concluded the 2022-23 regular season by cruising to a 78-26 NEWMAC victory over Mount Holyoke College on Saturday afternoon in Blake Arena.

Springfield (17-8, 7-3 NEWMAC) ends the regular season on a three-game winning streak and tied with WPI for fourth place in the conference standings. Mount Holyoke finishes the year with a 2-23 record overall, 0-10 in the NEWMAC.

Three players recorded double-doubles for Springfield, led by Sam Hourihan's 14 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Off the Pride bench, Amanda Leary posted 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Angela Czeremcha added 10 points and 10 boards. Rachel Vinton contributed 13 points and four assists.

Sophomore captain Marley Berano (Lady Lake, Fla.) led the Lyons with seven points and four assists. First-years Kendall Maurer (Orinda, Calif.) and Taryn White (Alexandria, Va.) shared the team lead in rebounding with seven apiece.

Mount Holyoke was held under 20 percent shooting from the field and from three-point territory, and was dominated 57-28 on the boards. But the Lyons executed strong ball security for their third straight game, committing only 13 turnovers to Springfield's nine.

After Springfield ended the first half with 13 unanswered points, Mount Holyoke found better success in the second half, even as the Pride expanded its lead. The Lyons were outscored 18-7 in the third quarter and 19-11 in the fourth quarter, a period which featured sophomore Amrit Khinda's (Van Nuys, Calif.) first career 3-pointer and another three by first-year Alex Twomey (Nutley, N.J.).
