SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- First-year midfielder Anna Induni recorded her fourth two-goal game of the season and senior Kylie Brooks added a goal and an assist as the Mount Holyoke College field hockey team defeated Eastern Connecticut State University 4-0 in a non-conference game Thursday night at the MHC Turf & Track. The game was rescheduled from a rainout on Sept. 6.

Mount Holyoke (4-11) won its second straight game and its first home game, and earned its fourth shutout of the season. ECSU (6-11) suffered its third straight loss. The Lyons are now 2-0 all-time against the Warriors.

The Lyons earned a 29-4 advantage in shots, a 12-0 edge in shots on goal, and a 12-5 difference in penalty corners.

Senior Phoebe Aaronson (Mountain View, Calif.) got the scoring started late in the first quarter on a penalty corner, taking the insert pass at the top of the circle and maneuvering around a defender before shooting. Her shot was deflected into the air and appeared to hit sophomore teammate Sophia Guziewicz (Enfield, N.H.) in the chest on its way to the back of the net. The goal is Aaronson's second of the season.

Induni (Manchester, N.H.) added to the lead in the 26th minute, as a cross by senior Mollee Malboeuf (Fitchburg, Mass.) was chested out by Eastern goalie Sarah Gallagher, but Induni, standing near the left post, picked the ball out of the air and batted it in to make it 2-0. The goal pulled Induni into a three-way tie with Brooks (Oceanside, Calif.) and Malboeuf for the team goals lead with seven apiece.

After a scoreless third quarter, Brooks retook the scoring lead on a counterattack by the Lyons, on a play starting with Induni's drive over midfield, then a pass to junior Caroline Thompson (Harwich, Mass.), who forwarded the ball to Brooks for an uncontested shot on the right side of the circle. Brooks knocked the ball inside the left post for her eighth score of the season and her 20th career goal.

Brooks assisted Induni on Mount Holyoke's final score in the 54th minute. Operating on the right side of the circle, she drew most of ECSU's defense to that side of the field. A reverse stick pass across the circle toward the left post was easily knocked in by Induni, making it 4-0 and allowing Induni to tie Brooks for the team lead again with eight goals apiece.

Gallagher made six saves for ECSU in the first half, allowing two goals. Erin Fainer played the second half and made two saves against two goals allowed.

Sophomore goalie Rachel Katzenberg (Reisterstown, Md.) earned the shutout for Mount Holyoke with no saves made.

Mount Holyoke will wrap up its season Saturday with a NEWMAC game at Wheaton, starting at noon. Eastern Connecticut plays a Little East game at Salem State, also Saturday at noon.
