DUDLEY, Mass. -- First-year Anna Induni scored two goals and Caroline Thompson, Laurissa Montigny, and Jayonna Montigny also scored as the Mount Holyoke College field hockey team won 5-0 at Nichols College in a non-conference game Tuesday night at Vendetti Field.

Mount Holyoke (4-11) earned its first win in its past seven contests and scored its fourth shutout win of the season, while the host Bison dropped to 5-12 with their eighth loss in a row. Mount Holyoke raised its all-time record against Nichols to 10-2 with the win.

Mount Holyoke had a 13-10 advantage in shots, with all 13 attempts on target, and an 11-3 edge in penalty corners. Nichols goalie Megan Fuchs made seven saves in the game.

For Mount Holyoke, sophomore Rachel Katzenberg (Reisterstown, Md.) made the start with three saves in the first three quarters. Junior Leah Manning (Durham, N.H.) played the fourth quarter and shared the shutout with Katzenberg, making three saves.

First-year defender Taylor Vettori (Etna, N.H.) helped preserve the shutout with a defensive save early in the fourth quarter.

Induni (Manchester, N.H.) got the Lyons on the board in the opening minute of the second quarter, banging in an unassisted score out of a scrum in front of the net.

Senior Laurissa Montigny (Enfield, Conn.) scored her second goal of the season in the 25th minute, shooting to the opposite post on a penalty corner, with an assist from fellow senior Kylie Brooks (Oceanside, Calif.). The Lyons took a 2-0 lead into intermission.

Brooks earned another assist in the 37th minute, as her shot was tipped past Fuchs by Thompson for Thompson's first goal of the season.

Sophomore Jayonna Montigny (Enfield, Conn.) netted her first career goal shortly after, on a breakaway in the 40th minute.

Induni scored unassisted from the top of the circle in the final minute of the third quarter to conclude the scoring. Induni's six goals this season rank her just behind team co-leaders Brooks and senior Mollee Malboeuf (Fitchburg, Mass.), who both have seven.

Brooks' two assists tied her with Malboeuf for the team points lead with 17.

Mount Holyoke will host Eastern Connecticut State on Thursday at 6pm in a makeup game from a rainout earlier this season.
