THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke continues its three match homestand versus Babson College Saturday afternoon (1:00 p.m.) at the Mount Holyoke Soccer Field. In 20 previous meetings between the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foes, the Beavers own a 13-7 advantage. MHC Logo THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (1-7-1, 1-2-1 NEWMAC) claimed its first victory of the season on Tuesday, when it held on for a 2-1 triumph over the Coast Guard Academy. After a scoreless first half, the Lyons grabbed a 1-0 edge in the 50th minute, when midfielder Veronica Farmer set up forward Jacquelyn Archibald's first tally of the year. Forward Margaret Hanmer then found the back of the net for what proved to be the winner at the 69:21 mark. It was her team leading second tally of the fall. Forward Mallory Phaneuf was credited with the assist on the play. Farmer has posted a squad high two assists for Mount Holyoke. On the defensive end, Elaine Harvey has  amassed 90 saves in 761 minutes played. The senior has posted a goals against average of 4.02 and a save percentage of .726.

Opponent Logo THE BEAVERS: Babson (8-3-1, 3-0-1 NEWMAC) sits atop the NEWMAC standings with a record of 3-0-1 versus league foes. In addition to posting consecutive 2-1 victories over WPI and Clark University over the past week, the Beavers have also defeated Smith College 2-0 in Conference play. They finished in scoreless tie with Wellesley College. Midfielders Amy Festa and Ashley Tourso have amassed four goals apiece to lead the way for Babson. The duo has connected for a pair of match winners apiece. Their team's stingy defense has allowed just eight goals this season. Goalkeeper Lisa Wojar has posted a goals against average of 0.39.    

NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke will put the finishing touches on its three match homestand on Tuesday, when it entertains Connecticut College at 4:30 p.m. Babson will be off until next Saturday, when it hosts the Coast Guard Academy for a NEWMAC tilt beginning at 11:30 a.m.
