Breena Proctor Named Head Soccer Coach at Mount Holyoke College

South Hadley, Mass. - August 27, 2021 - Interim Director of Athletics Erica Lemm is excited to announce the addition of Breena Proctor as the next head coach of the soccer program at Mount Holyoke College, effective August 2021. Proctor will also serve as a Lecturer in Physical Education at the College.

Proctor, who earned a Bachelor's degree in Movement and Sports Studies with a concentration in Physical Education from Springfield College in 2014, becomes the eighth full-time head coach in the Mount Holyoke College soccer program dating back to 1979.

"I want to thank Director of Athletics Erica Lemm and the entire search committee for entrusting me with leading the soccer program at Mount Holyoke College," said Proctor. "I am beyond thrilled to lead this group of people and to be a part of the entire MHC community. This program has an exciting future and I can't wait to be a part of it!"

Most recently, Proctor served as a volunteer assistant coach with the Springfield College women's soccer program during the Fall of 2020. Prior to working with her alma mater, Proctor held a pair of head coaching positions at Rockford University in Rockford, Ill. from 2019-20, and SUNY Purchase in Purchase, N.Y. from 2017-2019.

While at Purchase, Proctor played a vital role in increasing the program's roster size, as well as developing strategies and philosophy in order to foster advancements within the program. Her work resulted in the program seeing its most amount of wins dating back to 2012, as she also helped a pair of student-athletes earn All-Conference recognition following the 2017 season. Proctor also served as an assistant coach at Simpson College from 2015 to 2016. At Simpson, Proctor helped recruit 18 new players to the program for the 2016 season.

"I could not be more pleased to welcome Coach Breena to Lyons Nation and for the future of our soccer program," said Lemm. "She brings proven success as a recruiter and a passion for rebuilding. Coach Breena is described as a positive, adaptable, and personable team-player who excels at developing team culture. She is intentional about creating an all-encompassing student-athlete experience and I look forward to the lasting impact she will have on our program and student-athletes."

As a student-athlete, Proctor helped Springfield College to three New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) titles and four NCAA Division III Championship Tournament appearances from 2010-2014. Playing midfield for the Pride, Proctor started in 17 of the 44 games that she saw action in over a four-year span and was a crucial midfielder in Springfield's league titles in 2012 and 2013. Following her senior season, Proctor was the recipient of the Kate Richardson Unsung Hero Award.

Proctor is a member of the United Soccer Coaches organization and holds a Level 2 license, with six diplomas completed. Additionally, the Newington, Conn. native holds a Massachusetts Teaching License in Physical Education.
