Field hockey leads nation with 25 National Academic Squad selections

MANAHAWKIN, N.J. -- The Mount Holyoke field hockey team led all Division III teams with 25 selections, as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced its National Academic Squad on Wednesday.

The NFHCA National Academic Squad program honors undergraduate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester.

Mount Holyoke College led with 25 selections, while both Haverford College and Middlebury College each landed 24 student-athletes on the list.

Three Lyons senior team members earned the distinction for the fourth time in their career: Sophia Guziewicz (Claremont, N.H.), Rachel Katzenberg (Reisterstown, Md.), and Gracie Wilkinson (Amherst, Mass.).

Also winning National Academic Squad honors were: Linnea Alsted (Crownsville, Md.), Ella Averbeck (Montpelier, Vt.), Emily Bisson (Manchester, N.H.), Bianca Blackwood (Penobscot, Maine), Dillon Davis (Waterford, Vt.), Sara Ford (Street, Md.), Ainsley Gruener (Topsfield, Mass.), Lily Guerrera (Fairfield, Conn.), Heidi Hausmann (Ashland, Mass.), Mackenzie Hillman (Newington, Conn.), Katie James (Northampton, Mass.), Diane Lee (Boston, Mass.), Julie Merriam (Ardmore, Pa.), Jayonna Montigny (Enfield, Conn.), Kellyn Norman (Raleigh, N.C.), MJ Owens (Fairfield, Conn.), Alexina Peckinpaugh (Windsor, Vt.), Aarya Phadnis (Mountain View, Calif.), Ashley Scott (South Hadley, Mass.), Kat Shaw (Benson, Vt.), Juliana Spaulding (Wakefield, Mass.), and Taylor Vettori (Etna, N.H.).
