SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College field hockey team had no trouble recording its sixth win of the season on Thursday night, as the Lyons defeated Elms College 6-0 in a non-conference game on the MHC Turf.

Mount Holyoke (6-3) scored at least once in each quarter, finalized by three goals in the fourth quarter scored by sophomore Scout Climie (Guilford, Conn.).

The Lyons outshot the visiting Blazers (0-7) by a 46-0 margin and had a 15-0 advantage in penalty corners.

Emily Hunt made 18 saves for Elms, while Lily Sheridan and Emily Kilili both recorded defensive saves for the Blazers.

Senior Rachel Katzenberg (Reisterstown, Md.) rose to 6-3 on the season, sharing the shutout with first-year Heidi Hausmann (Ashland, Mass.), who played the final 10 minutes in goal for the hosts in her second appearance of the season. Mount Holyoke now has five shutouts this season.

First-year MJ Owens (Fairfield, Conn.) got the Lyons on the scoreboard first less than three minutes into the contest, knocking in the rebound after Hunt stopped senior Jayonna Montigny (Enfield, Conn.) on consecutive shots from close range. The goal was Owens' second of the season.

Mount Holyoke took a 2-0 lead with 9:34 remaining in the half on a penalty corner, as Climie took the insertion pass from Montigny at the top of the circle and passed to Alsted on her left. Alsted's shot rattled off Hunt's foot and a defender's leg before finding the back of the cage, tying her for the team goals lead with six.

Elms held on to the two-goal deficit into the third quarter, despite a 27-0 shots difference at the break.

First-year Aarya Phadnis (Mountain View, Calif.) tallied her first career goal early in the third quarter, knocking in the rebound after a saved shot by Alsted and a follow-up shot by sophomore Ashley Scott (South Hadley, Mass.) that was saved by Sheridan.

Climie got into the act with an explosion of three goals scored in a span of 6:05 of the fourth quarter, doubling the Lyons' lead to six for the final four minutes of play. Now with four goals and five assists, Climie rose to a tie for third on the Lyons in points with 13. An assist by Alsted on Climie's first goal gave her a team-high 17 points this season.

Mount Holyoke will return to NEWMAC play this Saturday at 3pm against Wellesley. Elms will host Johnson & Wales Saturday at 11am.
