Field hockey dominates Manhattanville 4-0

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College field hockey team won its second straight game Tuesday night, overpowering Manhattanville University by a 4-0 score while outshooting the Valiants 17-2.

Senior Jayonna Montigny (Enfield, Conn.) scored first for the Lyons, early in the second quarter, on an assist from sophomore Scout Climie (Guilford, Conn.), for Montigny's first goal of the season.

Sophomore Linnea Alsted (Crownsville, Md.) netted her team-high fourth goal on a penalty corner, using an assist from classmate Emily Bisson (Manchester, N.H.).

Lyons senior Sophia Guziewicz (Claremont, N.H.) added her first goal of the season late in the third quarter, redirecting a cross from sophomore Mackenzie Hillman (Newington, Conn.) in the middle of the circle at the tail end of a penalty corner.

Alsted and Guziewicz connected again less than three minutes later, with 12:41 remaining in regulation, for the 4-0 advantage, marking Guziewicz's eighth career goal.

Cat Morgan made nine saves and allowed all four goals for Manhattanville (0-4). Lida Vasquez-Sinisi played the final 12:41 and made one save.

Senior Rachel Katzenberg (Reisterstown, Md.) earned the shutout win in goal for Mount Holyoke without a save.

Mount Holyoke (2-1) next plays at Westfield State on Thursday at 7pm.
