Track & Field Competes at Wesleyan Spring Invite

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Mount Holyoke College track & field team opened its outdoor season in an unconventional way on Saturday, participating at the Wesleyan University Spring Invitational. The meet, which as held indoors due to the continuing problems with snow and ice across the Northeast, was a non-scoring event.

First year Julia Criscione had a strong showing, finishing 11th overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.95. In the 400-meter dash, senior Gretchen Rowe was 18th overall, crossing the line with a mark of 1:10.97.

The 800-meter run saw first year Sunny Shan place seventh with a time of 2:32.40, while sophomore Brianna Weir was close behind in the same event, recording a mark of 2:36.87 to finish 12th. Shan and Weir went on to place seventh (5:05.08) and 16th (5:24.00), respectively in the 1500-meter run.

In the 3,000-meter run, senior Dana Fry was fifth with a time of 10:55.00, while first years Mia Barnes and Hannah Gershone were 10th (11:31.50) and 12th (11:34.50), respectively.

The 4x400 relay team, comprised of Shan, junior Elizabeth DeLeon, Weir and first year Caroline Black was ninth with a time of 4:44.71.
