Track & Field Competes at Tufts Invitational

MEDFORD, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke College track and field team was in action on Saturday, competing at the 2015 Tufts Invitational. The Lyons, who finished 14th overall in a tough field of multi-divisional competition, saw a number of strong performances on the afternoon.

Leading the way was sophomore Becca Rogers, who finished third overall in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:28.30. She then went on to place sixth in the 1-mile run, crossing the line in a time of 5:19.39. That time also qualified her for the Division III New England Championships.

Also finishing well in the 800-meter run was junior Elizabeth DeLeon, who crossed the line in a time of 2:34.92 - good for eighth overall. She went on to finish 14th in the grueling 3,000-meter run, posting a time of 10:51.34.

Senior Jennie Ochterski placed 13th in the weight throw with a mark of 11.47 meters, while junior Camille Coklow recorded the second-fastest time in qualifiying for the 60-meter dash (8.04), but was forced to pull out of the finals due to injury.

The Lyons are back in action next Saturday, traveling to Northampton for an 11am meet at Smith College.
