Track & Field Performs Well at Jim Sheehan Memorial Meet

FITCHBURG, Mass. - Junior Camille Coklow won the 100-meter dash and the Mount Holyoke College track & field team performed well at the 2015 Jim Sheehan Memorial Meet at Fitchburg State University on Saturday. The meet, which was a non-team scoring event, saw the Lyons record seven top-10 efforts on the day.

Leading the way was Coklow, who won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.74. She also finished third in the 200-m dash, crossing the line in a time of 27.02.

In the 800-meter run, junior Elizabeth DeLeon finished seventh with a mark of 2:29.31, while first year Sunny Shan crossed the line close behind, placing ninth overall with a time of 2:29.93.

Shan went on to place sixth in the 1500-meter run, posting a time of 5:01.76, while DeLeon was eighth with a time of 5:05.96. First year Mia Barnes also performed well in the 1500-m, sporting a time of 5:15.85, which was good for 15th overall.

In the 5000-meter run first year Kelly Stevens crossed the line with a time of 21:06.97, which was 14th overall, while classmate Shante Henderson was 13th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.53.

The field events saw senior Amber Legare finish seventh overall in the shot put, achieving a distance of 10.77 meters, while classmate Jenny Spicola was 13th in the hammer throw with a mark of 31.76 meters.

Mount Holyoke is back in action next weekend when it competes at the Smith Invitational on Saturday at 11am.
