  • 2012-13 Volleyball Year in Review

    Fifth-year head coach Sonnie Terrell guided the Mount Holyoke volleyball team to an overall record of 3-20 in 2012. The Lyons posted victories over St. Joseph’s University, Elms College & Norwich University as three different players were named to All-Tournament squads throughout the year.
  • Volleyball Falls to MIT
    October 27, 2012
    Junior middle hitter Kristine Bunker notched 13 kills and several other players had strong performances to lead the MIT to a 3-0 victory over Mount Holyoke College in NEWMAC volleyball action on Saturday. The game, which was the final regular season contest for both squads, saw the Engineers improve to 27-5 overall and 7-2 in conference play, while the Lyons concluded their season with a 3-20 mark and an 0-9 record in the NEWMAC.
  • Volleyball Bested by Smith, 3-1

    Mount Holyoke College battled back for a third set victory, but Smith College held on in the final frame for a 3-1 victory (25-20, 25-21, 25-27, 25-19) in NEWMAC volleyball action on Tuesday at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. With the win, the Pioneers move to 7-17 overall and 3-5 in conference action. The Lyons slip to 3-19 with an 0-8 record in the NEWMAC.
  • Volleyball Concludes Action at the Hall of Fame Tournament

    Day two of the 21st Annual Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament concluded on Saturday as Mount Holyoke College squared off against Bridgewater State and Westfield State. The Lyons shouldered a loss of 3-0 to the Bears before battling to a 3-1 loss to the Owls. Junior Martina Kneifel was named to the All-Tournament Team for MHC.
  • Lyons Game Day Central: Volleyball Hosts Hall of Fame Tournament

    The Mount Holyoke College volleyball team takes to the court on Friday evening, kicking-off the 21st Annual Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament, hosted by MHC and Smith College. The tournament, which will feature 16 teams, showcases some of the best volleyball in New England beginning Friday at 5pm.
  • Volleyball Falls in Hall of Fame Tourney Opener

    Action at the 21st Annual Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament kicked off on Friday as Mount Holyoke opened play in the early match. The Lyons shouldered a 3-1 loss to Colby in the 5pm game at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. Wheaton posted a 3-1 win over Westfield State in the other early contest in South Hadley.
  • Volleyball Falls in NEWMAC Action at Coast Guard

    Senior Keriann Mason and sophomore Leigh Anne Brazier each had eight kills to lead the way as Coast Guard posted a 3-0 win over Mount Holyoke in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) volleyball action on Little Bear Night. The win also tied a school-record 26th straight home victory for the Bears.
  • Volleyball Tripped Up in Road Action

    The Mount Holyoke College volleyball team shouldered a pair of losses at the Little East/NEWMAC Challenge, hosted by Keene State on Saturday. The Lyons fell to the host Owls by a 3-0 margin and were later tripped up, 3-0 by Plymouth State University.
  • Volleyball Suffers 3-1 Loss to Wheaton

    First year outside hitter Deirdre Wilson posted 15 kills on 25 attempts and added 17 digs to lead Wheaton College past Mount Holyoke College, 3-1 in NEWMAC volleyball action on Tuesday evening at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. With the victory, the visitors improve to 7-15 overall and 2-4 in conference play. The homestanding Lyons slip to 3-12 and 0-6 in the NEWMAC.
  • Volleyball Shoulders Tough Losses in Final Day of Seven Sisters Tourney

    The Mount Holyoke College volleyball team shouldered a pair of tough losses to close out action at the Seven Sisters Championship, hosted by Bryn Mawr. The Lyons fell 3-0 to Vassar College in the morning opener, before suffering a 3-0 loss to the host Owls in game two.
  • Volleyball Tripped Up During Day 1 of Seven Sisters Tournament

    The Lyons volleyball team shouldered a pair of losses to open day one of the Seven Sisters Championship, hosted by Bryn Mawr. Mount Holyoke fell by scores of 3-0 to NEWMAC-rivals Smith and Wellesley. Junior captain Kristina Weld paced the Lyons against the Pioneers with nine kills, six digs and a service ace.
  • Volleyball Shoulders 3-0 Loss to Springfield

    Sophomore Stephany Yang recorded 12 assists and added 10 digs, but it wasn’t enough as Mount Holyoke College fell to Springfield, 3-0 in NEWMAC volleyball action at Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Pride improve to 14-3 on the season and 4-1 in league play, while the Lyons slip to 3-7 overall and 0-5 in the NEWMAC.
  • Volleyball Posts 3-0 Victory at Norwich

    Emma Sweeting totaled a match-high 12 kills to lead the visiting Lyons of Mount Holyoke College to a 3-0 non-conference win against the Cadets of Norwich University on Saturday afternoon at Andrews Gymnasium. With the win, the Lyons improve to 3-6 on the season, while the loss drops the Cadets to 6-6.
  • Volleyball Suffers NEWMAC Defeat at Babson

    First-year Mary Donahue (Braintree, Mass.) continued her torrid hitting with 16 kills and only one error to lead the regionally-ranked Babson College women’s volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over visiting Mount Holyoke College in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup at Staake Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
  • Volleyball Splits Tri-Match Action at Home

    Led by 14 kills from sophomore Martina Kneifel, the Mount Holyoke volleyball team earned a split in tri-match action at Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium on Saturday. The Lyons defeated Elms, 3-0 to open the day, but later fell to Connecticut College, 3-0 in the final match. In the middle match, the Camels claimed victory over the Blazers to go 2-0 on the day.
  • Lyons Game Day Central: Volleyball Hosts Elms and Connecticut College

    Mount Holyoke hosts Elms College and Connecticut College for a tri-match today at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. After facing off against Elms at 11:00 a.m., the Lyons will meet up with Connecticut College at 3:00 p.m. The remaining match will feature the Blazers and the Camels at 1:00 p.m. Mount Holyoke owns a 13-1 record against Elms and has gone 15-7 all-time against the Camels.
  • Volleyball Falls at WPI in NEWMAC Action

    Kerrin Beovich (Seaford, NY) posted a career-high 16 kills and a .552 hitting percentage to lead host WPI to a 3-0 win over visiting Mount Holyoke in NEWMAC women’s volleyball action on Tuesday night at the Harrington Auditorium. WPI took the match with set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-23.
  • Volleyball Shoulders 3-0 Loss at Clark

    Led by double-doubles from Rachel Spera , Shannon Glass-Smythe and Mel Conde, host Clark University posted a closer-than-you-think 3-0 win over Mount Holyoke College in NEWMAC women’s volleyball action on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars improve to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in league play, while the Lyons now stand at 1-3 and 0-2 in conference action.
  • Volleyball Falls to Wellesley in NEWMAC Season Opener

    The Mount Holyoke College volleyball team saw sophomore Stephany Yang post 16 assists and a match-best 18 digs, but the Lyons could not get past Wellesley College as the Blue won, 3-0 in the NEWMAC opener for both squads. The victory keeps Wellesley’s record perfect as they improve to 7-0 overall. MHC slips to 1-2 on the young season.
  • Volleyball Opens 2012 Slate With Split

    The Mount Holyoke College volleyball team opened its 2012 season at Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium with a win and a loss this afternoon. The Lyons opened the day with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the University of St. Joseph before falling 3-0 in the final match of the day to Amherst College.

    Mount Holyoke takes to the court for the first time in 2012, hosting Amherst College and the University of St. Joseph for a tri-match on Saturday at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. After facing off against St. Joseph at 11:00 a.m., the Lyons will meet up with Amherst at 3:00 p.m. The remaining match will feature Amherst and St. Joseph at 1:00 p.m.

    Soccer, tennis and volleyball make it an action packed Tuesday night as all three have home games! Come out and cheer on your favorite Lyons' team as all three battle NEWMAC opponents. Soccer kicks things off at 4pm!
