Volleyball Tripped Up During Day 1 of Seven Sisters Tournament

BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Lyons volleyball team shouldered a pair of losses to open day one of the Seven Sisters Championship, hosted by Bryn Mawr. Mount Holyoke fell by scores of 3-0 to NEWMAC-rivals Smith and Wellesley.

Against Smith, the Lyons fell by set scores of 25-12, 25-17, 25-15 and were paced by junior captain Kristina Weld, who had nine kills, six digs and a service ace. Sophomore Stephany Yang added two kills, 13 assists and nine digs, while first year Emma Sweeting chipped in with five kills and seven digs.

In game two against the Blue, Mount Holyoke battled to set scores of 25-6, 25-17, 25-19. Sweeting had four kills, three digs and two service aces in the match, while sophomore Kaleen Iwema added three kills and five digs.

The Lyons return to the court on Sunday morning when they face Vassar at 9am, followed by the host, Bryn Mawr at 11:30am.
