Volleyball Shoulders 3-0 Loss at Clark

Worcester, Mass. – Led by double-doubles from Rachel Spera (North Hollywood, Calif.), Shannon Glass-Smythe (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Mel Conde (Union City, Calif.), host Clark University posted a closer-than-you-think 3-0 win over Mount Holyoke College in NEWMAC women's volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars improve to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in league play, while the Lyons now stand at 1-3 and 0-2 in conference action. Game scores were 35-33, 28-26 and finally 25-23 to give Clark the win by a combined six points.

Spera totaled 33 assists and 11 digs, while Glass-Smythe continues to shine finishing with a career-high 20 kills and 14 digs.

Mount Holyoke got an excellent performance from Martina Kneifel (Oro Valley, Ariz.), who collected a team-high 16 kills and added 12 digs.

Conde added 11 kills and 13 digs for Clark, which also got 25 digs from Kaitlyn Stuck (Barnstable, Mass.).

The Lyons, meanwhile, had Kaleen Iwema (Wadsworth, Ill.) record six kills and 20 digs and Stephany Yang (Glen Allen, Va.) hand out 31 assists.

Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday with conference contests. The Cougars will host Smith, while Mount Holyoke returns to Worcester for a matchup with WPI.
