AMHERST, Mass. -- Cold and rainy conditions made for a challenging Amherst Spring Fling Saturday, an annual non-scoring meet in which Mount Holyoke competed with athletes from Amherst, Brandeis, Bridgewater State, Middlebury, RPI, Tufts and Wesleyan.
Top performances by the Lyons included:
- Sophomore Ioanna Tsoni (Athens, Greece) took fourth place in the long jump (5.24 meters).
- First-year Molly Touch (Methuen, Mass.) took sixth place in the javelin throw (23.46 meters).
- Senior Aria Mallare (Chicago, Ill.) placed eighth in the 100 meters (13.41) and 13th in the long jump (4.55 meters)
- Junior Elle Rimando (Mililani, Hawaii) took ninth place in the long jump (4.98 meters)
- First-year Sachi Robinson (Staten Island, N.Y.) placed ninth in the 400 meters
- Sophomore Dalia Luckhardt (Cerritos, Calif.) placed 10th in the 400 meters (1:03.44) and 13th in the 200 meters (28.99)
- Senior Elizabeth Gerbi (Orono, Maine) placed 10th in the 5,000 meters (19:01.35).
- Senior Tessa Lancaster (Mansfield, Mass.) took 11th place in the 5,000 meters (19:07.16).
- Senior Abby Elliott (Carmel, Ind.) placed 11th in the discus throw at a personal-best mark of 26.49 meters (86'11").
- Senior Kim Beaver (Agawam, Mass.) placed 13th in the 800 meters (2:24.46).
- Junior Em Tetzlaff (Bath, Maine) placed 15th in the hammer throw (32.98 meters).
- Sophomore Thandiwanj Delgado-Kinyatti (South Hadley, Mass.) led four Lyons in the shot put, placing 21st (8.25 meters).
The Lyons travel to Westfield State University next Saturday, April 12 for the Jerry Gravel Invitational. (NOTE: The meet has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 13 at 10am.)
