BOSTON -- The Mount Holyoke track and field team had six athletes compete in nine events at the New England Division III Indoor Championships Sunday at The Track at New Balance, and the Lyons recorded five personal records on the day, all of which created movement on the team's all-time performance lists:

  • First-year Ioanna Tsoni (Athens, Greece) raced the ninth-fastest preliminary heat out of 27 competitors in the 60 hurdles in 9.16 seconds, one place away from advancing to the finals and scoring team points. Tsoni set the team record in the event earlier this season at 9.13 seconds.
  • Tsoni also placed 12th in the long jump at 5.16 meters (16'11.25"), and 14th in the triple jump, with a top mark of 10.63 meters (34'10.5"). That mark moved Tsoni past Charleen Theroux (2019) and into fourth place on Mount Holyoke's all-time performance list in the event.
  • Junior Tessa Lancaster (Mansfield, Mass.) ran a personal-best time of 10:19.52 in the 3000 meters to place 10th in the event, two places out of the scoring, becoming the second-fastest 3000 runner in Lyons history. Lancaster moved up from fifth place on the all-time list from her 2023 time of 10:24.41, passing Madeline Rieders (2020), Hannah Rieders (2020) and Johanna Thomas (2004) on the way.
  • Junior Kim Beaver (Agawam, Mass.) registered a 2.11-second PR in the 800 meters, placing 14th in 2:22.93. Beaver vaults from eighth to fifth place on Mount Holyoke's all-time performance list in the 800, passing Sunny Shan (2016), Rebecca Rogers (2015), and Elizabeth DeLeon (2013).
  • In the 1,000 meters, junior Greta Trapp (La Crosse, Wis.) ran a personal-best time of 3:09.27 to place 15th, while junior Olivia Johnson (Mount Desert, Maine) placed 22nd in 3:17.35. Trapp bettered her previous PR from earlier this season by 0.72 seconds and moved up from ninth to sixth place on Mount Holyoke's all-time performance list, passing Brianna Weir (2015), Sydney Nash (2020), and Vesta Coufal (1993).
  • Sophomore Elle Rimando (Mililani, Hawaii), who set Mount Holyoke's triple jump record earlier this season at 11.23 meters, topped out at 10.47 meters (34'4.5") on Saturday for 15th place.
  • Mount Holyoke also took 13th place in the 4x800 relay, as Beaver, Trapp, Johnson and Lancaster finished in 9:58.37, becoming the third-fastest 4x800 relay squad in program history.

Mount Holyoke will return some of its athletes back to The Track at New Balance this coming Friday and Saturday for the NEICAAA Championships.
