South Hadley, Mass. - August 16, 2019 - The Mount Holyoke College tennis program was recently recognized for its impressive work both on the court and in the classroom, as the Lyons earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team honors, while nine student-athletes were recognized individually, garnering ITA All-Academic Scholar Athlete status.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).

Earning ITA All-Academic Scholar Athlete honors for the Lyons was Annissa Aamoum (Dulles, Va.), Nikki Cheng (Honolulu, Hawaii), Anya Gerasimova (Salem, Ore.), Ching-Ching Huang (Lukang Township, Taiwan), Susan Li (Irvine, Calif.), Joy Maran (Santa Fe, N.M.), Catherine Peabody (San Francisco, Calif.), Madison Rosen (Portland, Ore.), and Clara Wang (Madison, Conn.). 

The Lyons have now had student-athletes earn 44 All-Academic Scholar Athlete honors dating back to the 2014 season, including 25 in the last three years. 

Out of the 156 teams that were recognized with ITA All-Academic Team honors, only 14 had nine or more student-athletes recognized. Out of those 14, only three, including Mount Holyoke, compete in the New England region. The Lyons had the most amount of student-athletes honored among teams that compete in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
