Tennis Competes at 2018 ITA Northeast Regionals

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke College tennis team sent three student-athletes to the 2018 ITA Northeast Regional Championships at Williams College on Friday. The Lyons shouldered tough losses in their opening matches and will now move into the consolation singles bracket for tomorrow's action.

In doubles action, the Lyons duo of Anya Gerasimova and Catherine Peabody squared off against Williams' Korina Neveux and Maxine Ng. The Ephs pair was seeded fifth in the draw, posting an 8-1 win over MHC. In singles action, Peabody faced Amherst's Claire Evans, who was a nine-seed in the draw. She shouldered a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Evans, while in the other singles action, senior Ayame Yazawa suffered a 6-1, 6-2 loss to Trinity's Elena Pellegrini.

Squad members will now move on to Saturday's action to compete in consolation singles. All action takes place at Williams College.
