WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team saw two members swim in event finals on Saturday night, higlighting the third day of the NEWMAC Championships at WPI for the Lyons.
Mount Holyoke remained in ninth place among 10 teams at the meet with one day remaining. The Lyons have 145.5 points, behind eighth-place Smith (220) and ahead of 10th-place Clark (140.5).
Sophomore Isabel Dunn (Harbor Springs, Mich.) provided one Mount Holyoke highlight by taking 15th place in the 100-yard butterfly, with a B Final time of 59.62 seconds.
Senior Megan Schneider (Newton, Mass.) was the 20th and final swimmer to advance to the B Finals in the 100-yard breaststroke on Saturday morning; in the finals, Schneider finished in a tie for 19th place with Daizy Sweetman of Clark at 1:11.64.
Other top performances Saturday included:
- Junior Sophie Allen (Lopez Island, Wash.) placed 23rd in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.32).
- Senior Noa Sharabi (Richmond, Calif.) placed 29th in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.02).
- Junior Kaylee Barnett (Aurora, Colo.) placed 30th in the 100 backstroke (1:07.28).
- Allen, Schneider, Dunn, and senior Kamlyn Yosick (Portland, Ore.) took 10th place in the A Final of the 200-yard medley relay, in 1:54.89.
Friday Highlights
- Mount Holyoke placed seventh in the A Final of the 200-yard freestyle relay, with Schneider, Heierhoff, Allen, and Yosick touching the wall in 1:41.25 to edge Smith (1:42.14) and Clark (1:42.34).
- First-year Katherine Upton (Cambridge, Mass.) placed 15th in 1-meter diving with 275.15 points.
- Schneider took 28th place in the 50-yard freestyle, with a season-best time of 25.36 seconds.
- Dunn placed 29th in the 200-yard individual medley (2:18.71).
- Allen placed 32ndin the 50 free (25.80).
- Yosick placed 33rd in the 50 free (25.88).
- Allen, Schneider, Dunn, and Yosick placed 10th in the A Final of the 400-yard medley relay (4:13.09).
Thursday
- In the meet's opening 800-yard freestyle relay on Thursday night, the quartet of Dunn, sophomore Zoey Zhu (Sturbridge, Mass.), Hood and Heierhoff placed ninth in the A Final in 8:35.27.
