  • 2012-13 Swimming & Diving Year in Review

    Led by 15th-year head coach Dave Allen, the Mount Holyoke swimming & diving team had a record-setting year in 2012-13. The Lyons, who posted a 7-3 dual meet record, claimed victory over Westfield State University, Trinity College, Western Connecticut State, St. Joseph University, Clark University, Simmons College and Smith College.
  • Cunningham an NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee

    The NCAA has announced the 455 female student-athletes who were nominated for the 2013 NCAA Woman of the Year award and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Nora Cunningham was this year’s selection for the Institution. Of the 455 nominees, 214 participated in Division I, 90 participated in Division II, and 151 participated in Division III athletics.
  • Swimming & Diving to Offer Spring Swimming Lessons!

    The Mount Holyoke College Swimming and Diving Team is offering lessons to children (ages 9 months to teenagers) and adults this spring. Classes are held in Kendall Hall and are taught by members of the college swimming & diving team. Sessions will begin on Monday, April 1 and will end on Thursday, April 18, 2013.

    Action at the 2013 NEWMAC Swimming & Diving Championships has concluded and Mount Holyoke College finished fifth overall at this year’s meet. The Lyons, who reset a total of 15 school records throughout the three-day meet, were paced by a number of outstanding efforts.
  • Swimming & Diving Remains 5th After Day 2 of NEWMAC Championships

    Records continued to fall for the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team on day two of the NEWMAC Championships, hosted by MIT. In total, seven school records, while a NEWMAC open and meet record was shattered by first year Cathleen Pruden. The Lyons continued to hold onto fifth place among the 10-team field.
  • Swimming & Diving Currently Fifth After Day 1 at NEWMAC Championships

    Day one of competition at the 2013 NEWMAC swimming & diving championships is in the books and through the first nine events, Mount Holyoke is tied for fifth. The Lyons, who compiled 84 points through day one, had a strong opening effort at this year’s meet as three school records fell, all championed by first year Cathleen Pruden.

    The 2013 NEWMAC Swimming & Diving championship kicks off on Friday at MIT's Zesiger Center Natatorium and runs through Sunday evening. The host Engineers come in as the defending men's and women's champions but there are a number of strong squads in the conference and the potential is high for some outstanding performances.

    The NEWMAC announced its weekly awards for the period ending February 4 and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Cathleen Pruden has been recognized. The first year standout was named the Swimmer of the Week for the third time this season following another record setting performance – this time in a dual meet win against Smith.
  • Swimming & Diving Downs Smith on Senior Day!

    Seniors Lindsey Kanno, Nora Cunningham and Cailtin Lewis all recorded victories to lead the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team past Smith College, 160-135 on Senior Day at the MHC Natatorium. With the win, the Lyons finish their dual meet season with a 7-3 record, while the Pioneers cap their season with a 2-3 mark.

    Despite four victories from first year Cathleen Pruden, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team could not overcome a strong Wellesley squad, falling to the Blue by a 190-104 margin on Saturday afternoon. The Blue improve to 7-2 in dual meet action this season, while the Lyons slip to 6-3 overall.

    Mount Holyoke College battled hard on day two of the 2013 Seven Sisters Championship, but despite a strong push, which included multiple meet and school records, the Lyons finished second overall behind host, Wellesley College. MHC, which was among five schools at this year's meet, posted a combined 754 points in the meet and posted five victories.

    Wellesley College leads a field of five after day one of the 2013 Seven Sisters Swimming and Diving Championships. Mount Holyoke sits in second (537), powered by a number of outstanding efforts. Leading the way on the opening day of action was first year Cathleen Pruden, who shattered both the Seven Sisters and Mount Holyoke records, while also achieving an NCAA 'B' Cut in the 400-IM.

    Led by victories in 13 of 16 events, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team cruised to a 160-97 victory over Simmons College on Saturday afternoon at the MHC Natatorium. The Lyons, who saw seven different student-athletes claim victory, improved to 6-2 on the season with the win, while the Sharks slip to 4-4 overall.

    he Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team returned to action on Friday afternoon in a tri-meet against Clark University and host Wheaton College. The Lyons posted a 168-69 victory over the Cougars, but fell by a narrow 123-113 margin against Wheaton. Leading the way were three individual victories from first year Cathleen Pruden.

    Powered by victories in 14 of 16 events on the afternoon, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team defeated the University of St. Joseph (Conn.) by a 144-123 margin. With the win, the Lyons improve to 4-1 in dual meet action this season. The BlueJays are now 1-3 in dual meet competition.
  • Swimming & Diving Hosts MHC Invitational

    The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team hosted longtime rivals Smith College and Wellesley College today at its home invitational. Wellesley dominated the non-scoring meet, taking 19 of the 22 events. Mount Holyoke’s Cathleen Pruden swam to victory for the Lyons in the other three events.

    Fresh off its victory on Friday, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team cruised to a 148-66 win against Western Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon at the MHC Natatorium. The Lyons move to 3-1 in dual meet action this season, while the Colonials slip to 1-3 on the season.

    Mount Holyoke, which competes at Trinity College on Friday night at 6:30pm, returns to the MHC Natatorium on Saturday to battle Western Connecticut State beginning at 1pm. The Lyons are currently 5-1-0 all-time against the Colonials, including wins in each of the last three meets.

    Multiple victories paved the way for Mount Holyoke College on Friday as the Lyons defeated Trinity College, 120-114. Leading the way for MHC was first year Cathleen Pruden, who re-set the record in the 1000-freestyle, which she had set earlier this season. With the victory, the Lyons improve to 2-1 in dual meets this season.

    In a battle that came down to the final relay, the Assumption women's swimming & diving team came out the victor, posting a 146-138 win over Mount Holyoke College on Friday evening. With the victory, the Greyhounds improve to 2-0 in dual meet action on the season, while the Lyons move to 1-1 overall.

    First year Cathleen Pruden inked her name onto another school record on Wednesday and the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team opened its dual meet schedule with a 165-121 victory over Westfield State. Pruden, who eclipsed two records in last week's opener, posted a new mark in the 1000-freestyle against the Owls.
  • Swimming and Diving Kicks Off 2012-13 Slate at Betty Spears Relays

    The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team kicked off its 2012-13 schedule at the 16th annual Betty Spears Relays this afternoon. Five squads from around the region competed at today’s non-scoring meet, which took place at Wellesley College's Chandler Pool. Leading the way for the Lyons was first year Cathleen Pruden, who set two school records, including one that had stood since 1986.
