Swimming & Diving Falls at Wellesley, 190-104

WELLESLEY, Mass. (Jan. 26, 2013) - Despite four victories from first year Cathleen Pruden, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team could not overcome a strong Wellesley squad, falling to the Blue by a 190-104 margin on Saturday afternoon. The Blue improve to 7-2 in dual meet action this season, while the Lyons slip to 6-3 overall.

Pruden (Raleigh, N.C./Ravencroft School), the two-time reigning Swimmer of the Week in the NEWMAC, charged to victory in the 1000-freestyle with a mark of 10:54.95. She also won the 200-butterfly in a time of 2:14.63 and was victorious in the 200-IM by a 2:14.46 margin.

Along with senior captain Nora Cunningham (Bronx, N.Y./Stuyvesant), senior Lindsey Kanno (Cranston, R.I./Cranston East) and sophomore Maya Lazarovich (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington), Pruden also claimed victory in the 200-freestyle relay as the foursome posted a time of 1:44.98.

First year Bethany Aban (Poulsbo, Wash./North Kitsap) swam to second in the 100-fly, posting a time of 1:01.45. She also finished fourth overall in both the 200-back (2:20.37) and the 200-fly (2:26.48).

Lazarovich won the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:30.64 and was also second to Pruden in the 200-IM, recording a time of 2:17.15. Cunningham was runner-up in the 50-free with a time of 26.56.

Mount Holyoke is back in the water next Saturday when it hosts Smith at 1pm at the MHC Natatorium. That meet also marks Senior Day for the Lyons!!
