SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Six different players scored, paced by a game-best eight from senior captain Lexi Lenaghan, as Babson College defeated Mount Holyoke College, 20-9 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Beavers to 12-5 and concludes their conference slate with a perfect 8-0 record. The Lyons finish their season at 7-9, going 2-6 in the NEWMAC.

Babson has earned the top-seed in the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament and will host the winner of #5 Wheaton and #4 Coast Guard on Thursday, May 2nd at 7pm. The winner of the semifinals will move on to the championship match on Saturday, May 4 at 1pm at the highest remaining seed.

The homestanding Lyons came out firing to open the contest with three straight goals from first year Abby Baldwin (Florence, Mass./Northampton) over a two-minute span. Baldwin first cracked the scoreboard at the 25:25 mark, connecting on a beautiful feed from classmate Caroline Flynn (Williamstown, Mass./Mount Greylock Regional). She added her second off a pass from senior attack Deyscha Smith (Boston, Mass./Academy of the Pacific Rim) and attained the hat trick with a free position tally at 23:42.

Babson countered less than a minute later as Lenaghan (Hanover, Mass./Notre Dame Academy/Hofstra) buried a bulletted pass from sophomore attack Georgia Salvatore (Westwood, Mass./Westwood). Smith regained the three-goal lead for MHC at 21:09, but Lenaghan found the back of the net once again from Salvatore, setting off a chain reaction that saw Babson add five unanswered to grab a 6-4 lead. Lenaghan added a goal and two assists in that span.

Flynn pulled the home team back to within one (6-5) off a feed from junior midfielder and captain Julianna Rankin (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) and Baldwin netted her fourth of the contest following another Beavers tally to make it 7-6 with 7:19 to play. Despite the momentum, MHC saw Babson rally back with two goals to close out the half, followed by a 5-0 run to open the second stanza. Lenaghan continued to impress during the opening run to the second half with a pair of goals and two assists, while Salvatore added two goals.

A free position goal from first year attack Allie Brown (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) at 18:25 pulled the Lyons back to within seven (14-7) and another score by Flynn kept the Lyons within range at 16:23, but another 4-0 run behind a goal and an assist from junior attack Valerie Quinlan (Norwood, Mass./Norwood) put the contest out of reach as the visitors took a 19-8 advantage with 5:23 left on the clock.

MHC saw Smith add her second of the game on the free position for the Lyons' ninth tally, but Lenaghan closed out the scoring for both teams at 1:26.

Babson was paced by Lenaghan, who also had a game-best seven assists and a draw control. Salvatore finished with four goals and two assists with two ground balls, while senior captain Olivia McCahan (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown) had two tallies with three helpers. Sophomore midfielder Juliana McGuire (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) had a game-high 10 draw controls, while Quinlan added four ground balls, eight draws and a caused turnovers. In goal, sophomore Cricket Fligor (Weston, Mass./Weston) earned the win with five stops on the afternoon.

For Mount Holyoke, Baldwin notched four goals, while adding a ground ball and a team-best six draw controls. Smith and Flynn each added two goals and an assist, while sophomore defender Chelsea Braz (Coventry, Conn./East Catholic) had two ground balls and and a game-best two caused turnovers. In goal, junior Mia Wysocki (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) had 10 stops and also added a game-best eight ground balls with a caused turnover.
