Lacrosse Earns IWLCA/Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad Recognition; Four Named to Honor Roll

South Hadley, Mass. - August 20, 2019 - The Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team was recognized for its hard work both on the field and in the classroom, as the Lyons earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad recognition following the 2019 season. Additionally, four student-athletes were honored individually, landing a spot on the Academic Honor Roll. 

The IWLCA named 312 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA as IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads for the 2018-19 academic year. To qualify for this prestigious honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year. The IWLCA also honored 650 student-athletes from 172 different institutions on the 2019 IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. 

The four student-athletes that were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll from the Lyons were Kelly Hammond (Hartland, Vt.), Julianna Rankin (Annapolis, Md.), Eva Schneiderman (Baltimore, Md.) and Haley Subocz (Northampton, Mass.). The Mount Holyoke College lacrosse program has now had student-athletes find a spot on the Academic Honor Roll 23 times dating back to the 2019 season, as the four Lyons that were honored following the 2019 season was the most in that span of time.
