Golf Bests Hamilton in Final Spring Trip Match

VERO BEACH, Fla. – The Mount Holyoke College golf team was back in action on Friday morning, taking on Hamilton College at the Sand Ridge Golf Club Dunes Course. The Lyons posted a 3.5-1.5 victory in the match play event, which concluded their spring trip.

Five golfers from each team competed in the event, which was an individual match-play format for 18 holes. Senior captain June Conti prevailed in her match-up against Continentals' Libbie Warner by a 1 up score. First year Susan Lee then defeated Winda Wanikpun, 5-3.

Classmate Stephanie Spitzer then recorded a 1 up win over Charlotte Chandler, while Lyons senior captain Allison Shilling shouldered a 1 down loss to Katie Veasey. In the final pairing of the day, MHC first year Maggie Kohl tied Hamilton's Annie McClanahan.

Mount Holyoke is now idle until April 8 when it travels to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to compete at the 2017 Vassar Invitational. Action at the event runs from Saturday until Sunday.
