Golf Finishes Third Overall In NYU Invitational

Bloomfield, N.J.. – The Mount Holyoke golf team concluded play in the NYU Fall Invitational Sunday after a successful outing, finishing third out of nine in the field. The Lyons posted a combined score of 664 overall.

Leading the Lyons this weekend was first year Susan Lee who had an excellent showing, finishing in a tie for sixth in field of 56. Lee ended with an overall score of 161 after shooting 81 in day one and 80 in day two. Captain June Conti rallied to finish in 10th after being 14th yesterday. Conti shot an impressive 79, after an 83 performance the day before for a 162 overall.

Fellow captain Allison Shilling finished with a score of 167, good for a 15th place tie overall. Shilling improved on Saturday's 84 from day one, shooting an 83 on Sunday. First year Stephanie Spitzer tied for 26th overall with a mark of 174, posting an 84 on day one with a 90 in the Final Round, while classmate Elizabeth Andrian rounded out team competition in 36th, with a 185 overall score. She shot 92 in the opener, wrapping-up Sunday with a 93.

Individually, senior Heeamin Lee posted a score of 94 after recording a 92 in the opener. She shot a combined 186, good for 38th. First year Madi Gale finished with a 227 overall score, placing 54th overall after notching a 115 on day one and a 112 on day two.

Williams College won this year's tournament, finishing with a 637 overall score. NYU's Alyssa Poentis led the pack with a 156 overall. Behind Williams was Amherst in second (653.

Mount Holyoke concluded their fall season at the NYU Invitational and will return to action in the spring.
