GOLF FINISHES SIXTH IN Ann S. BATCHELDER INVITE

Wellesley, Mass - The Mount Holyoke golf team concluded play in the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational Sunday, finishing in sixth place overall.

Senior captain June Conti (Amenia, N.Y./Miss Porter's School) led the way for MHC posting a score of 83, to compliment an 82 performance yesterday for a combined score of 165. Conti finished in a three-way tie for 23rd place.

Maggie Kohl (Warrensburg, Mo/Warrensburg) was close behind Conti, tying for 30th overall with a combined score of 170. Kohl scored 92 in day one and bounced back with a score of 78 on day 2.

Stephanie Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) finished in a tie for 34th place with a combined score of 177. Spitzer shot for 85 in day one and 92 on Sunday. Susan Lee (Irvine, Calif./University HS) placed 36th overall on the weekend with a total score of 180. Lee recorded an 89 on day one and 91 on day two.

To round out the Lyons' performance, Elizabeth Andrian (Glastonbury, Conn/Glastonbury) finished with a combined total of 190. She shot a 99 on the first day and came back to shoot 91 on day two.

Individually, senior captain Allison Shilling (New Canaan, Conn/Choate Rosemary Hall) finished in 32nd place with a combined score of 172. Shilling owned a score of 89 on the first day, and rallied to score 83 on day two.

This year's event winner was Amherst College, which posted an overall score of 616 on the weekend. Williams College finished second overall scoring a 620, followed by New York University (628), Middlebury (650), Wellesley (655), and Vassar (700).

Mount Holyoke will hit The Orchards golf course at home next Saturday beginning at 8:30am in the MHC Invitational.
