Lyons Finish Top Five In The Middlebury Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Mount Holyoke golf team concluded play in the Middlebury Invitational Sunday finishing fifth out of 15 in the field. The Lyons posted a combined score of 676 overall.

Leading the Lyons this weekend was senior captain June Conti who had a solid showing, finishing 18th out of a field of 86. Conti ended with an overall score of 165 after shooting 81 in day one and 84 in day two. Fellow captain Allison Shilling rallied to finish in a tie for 24th after being tied for 29th yesterday. Schilling shot an 82, after an 86 point performance the day before for a 168 overall.

First year Stephanie Spitzer finished with a score of 170, good for 31st overall. Spitzer improved on Saturday's 86 point performance, shooting an 84 today. First year Elizabeth Andrian tied for 36th overall, while classmate Susan Lee rounded out team competition in 38th, with a 177 overall score.

Individually, first year Maggie Kohl posted a score of 91 after shooting 95 on Saturday. Kohl finished with a 186 overall score.

Williams College won this year's tournament, finishing with a 629 overall score. Middlebury's Chloe Levin's led the pack with a 150 overall. Behind Williams were the host Panthers in second (631), followed by Amherst College (648), and Ithaca College (671).

Mount Holyoke will head to New York to compete in the NYU Invitational on Saturday beginning at 11:00am.
