Golf Sits 2nd After Day 1 of Liberty League Championships

SUFFERN, N.Y. - Day one action at the 2017 Liberty League Championships has concluded and through the first round the Mount Holyoke College golf team sits second of seven competing teams. The Lyons posted a combined score of 327 through the first 18 holes, sitting 23 strokes behind the leader and host, New York University.

Leading the action for Mount Holyoke through the First Round is first year Stephanie Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central), who is tied for seventh with a 79. Senior captain Allison Shilling (New Canaan, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) is in a tie for ninth overall, posting a score of 81, while first year Susan Lee (Irvine, Calif./University HS) is locked in a draw for 12th with a score of 83.

Senior captain June Conti (Amenia, N.Y./Miss Porter's School) heads into day two in 14th place, recording an 84 on day one, while classmate Heeamin Lee (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Brookline) rounds out the Lyons five in 18th overall, notching an 86 in the opening round.

New York University, which has all five of its golfers in the top seven, leads the field with a score of 304 through the first 18. Close behind the Lyons is Wellesley, which sits five strokes back in third with a score of 332, while Vassar is fourth with a combined score of 336. St. Lawrence University is fifth (347), followed by Union (369) and William Smith (382).
