Fourth year head coach Miriam Esber guided the Mount Holyoke lacrosse team to an overall record of 5-9 in 2011. The Lyons narrowly missed out on the NEWMAC Tournament with their 2-4 mark in league play.

The streak began against Westfield State University on March 10. With the game knotted up in the early stages of the second overtime period, first year attacker Liz Randolph found the back of the net to give her team an 11-10 triumph. Less than a week later, Mount Holyoke travelled to Westminster, Md. for a pair of spring break games at McDaniel College. After posting their fourth shutout in program history in a 14-0 thrashing of Concordia University, the Lyons held on for an 11-10 triumph over the University of New England the following day. Junior attacker Hilary Bombard provided the heroics with her free position goal in the waning seconds. She finished the game with three goals and two assists and was later named NEWMAC Player of the Week.

Mount Holyoke went on to claim a pair of wins in conference play. In early April, the Lyons defeated MIT 15-12. It was their first victory over the Engineers since the 2003 season. They then handed longtime rival Smith College a 14-9 setback later in the month.

Randolph made an immediate impact on the program, racking up team highs of 27 goals and eight assists. The attacker poured in five hat tricks while also contributing 18 draw controls, 14 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. She received help up front by Bombard, who found the back of the net 20 times and collected 27 draw controls. Junior attacker Alex Crean scored 13 goals, while senior midfielder Vika Planson chipped in with 12 goals and four assists. Senior midfielder Georgia Markell pulled in a team best 40 draw controls.

On the defensive end, senior Bianca Young capped off her outstanding career with 28 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers. She was named to the NEWMAC All-Conference First Team and IWLCA Berkshire Region Second Team.

Jamie Theophilos and Melissa Saale split time between the pipes for the Lyons, totaling 113 saves.
