Lacrosse: Eastern Connecticut State at Mount Holyoke

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke hosts non-conference foe Eastern Connecticut State University this afternoon (4:30 p.m.) at the Mount Holyoke Turf Field. MHC Logo THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (3-4, 0-1 NEWMAC) has dropped two straight games after rolling to consecutive wins over Westfield State University, Concordia University and the University of New England. The Lyons have been paced by attacker Liz Randolph, who has racked up 15 goals, three assists and 12 draw controls over her first seven collegiate contests. Fellow attackers Alex Crean and Hilary Bombard have found the back of the net 10 times apiece, while midfielder Vika Planson has amassed five goals, four assists and 13 ground balls. Mount Holyoke has also received solid production from midfielder Katya Planson, who has scored seven times. Goalkeepers Jamie Theophilos and Melissa Saale have has totaled 33 and 20 saves, respectively. 

Opponent Logo THE WARRIORS: Eastern Connecticut State (1-4, 0-0 LEC) has stumbled out of the gate, dropping four of its first five contests. After falling to Babson College (20-4) and Wesleyan University (10-8), the Warriors rebounded with a win over Salve Regina University (19-17). They have since dropped contests against Roger Williams University (16-10) and Colby College (18-3). Midfielder Daniela Marchitto and attacker Ashley Prizio have recorded 13 goals apiece to lead the way. Eastern Connecticut State has also received a boost from attacker Erin Conn, who has scored 10 times and secured 18 draw controls. Nancy Ibrahim has played all 300 minutes between the pipes for the Warriors, collecting 45 saves in the process.   

NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke will resume its three game homestand versus NEWMAC rival MIT on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Lyons will then have a week off before entertaining Wheaton College the following Saturday. Eastern Connecticut State is slated to visit Wellesley College next Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
