Lacrosse Team Claims IWLCA National Academic Squad Accolades

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Sept. 12, 2011) – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) recently announced that the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team earned Academic Squad honors for the 2011 season. A total of 71 NCAA Division III teams qualified for the distinction by posting a collective grade point average of 3.0 or greater.

In addition to naming its Academic Squads, the IWLCA also revealed its Academic Honor Roll. A total of 219 student-athletes from 85 institutions were recognized by the organization for their excellence in the classroom. To be eligible a student-athlete must have at least junior year status and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.50 for the spring semester.

Mount Holyoke was represented on the list by senior Bianca Young and junior Hilary Bombard. Young was also honored at the conclusion of her junior campaign.
