Golf Finishes Fourth at Middlebury Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Action at the Middlebury Invitational has concluded and after two days of competition, the Mount Holyoke College golf team finished fourth of 11 teams at the event. Highlighting the weekend was sophomore Heeamin Lee, who finished ninth as an individual. The Lyons posted an overall score of 674.

Lee posted a two-day combined score of 162, shooting an 84 on day one and a solid 78 on day two for a ninth-place overall spot.

In the team action, senior captain Madi Mendiola placed 10th overall with a score of 163, including an 80 on day one and an 83 on day two. Sophomores June Conti and Allison Shilling tied for 14th overall at the event with a combined tally of 167. Conti rallied from a score of 86 on day one to shoot 81 in the final round, while Shilling posted a 79 on the first day and an 88 on day two.

Sophomore Amanda Lee finished 28th overall, battling for a score of 177, including a score of 90 on day one and an 87 in the final day. Finally, sophomore Kelly McElreath finished 36th overall with a score of 186, including a 94 on day one and a 92 in the final round.

Williams College won this year's event with a combined score of 619, shooting 307 on day one and 312 on day two. The host Panthers were second overall with a combined 660 (327-333), while Amherst was third with a 672 (334-338). MHC and Vassar both posted a 674.

Individually, the Ephs' Sarah Hasselman won with a score of 150 (72-78).

The Lyons return to action next weekend, traveling to Williamstown, Mass., to compete in the Williams College Fall Invitational. Action begins on Saturday and runs through Sunday.
