Golf Finishes 2nd at Liberty League Championships

GENEVA, N.Y. - Sophomore June Conti earned All-League First Team recognition as the Mount Holyoke College golf team placed second of seven teams at the 2015 Liberty League Championships. The Lyons posted a combined score of 676, finishing second to NYU, which earned its second league title and the automatic qualifying bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Conti (Amenia, N.Y./Miss Porter's School) earned First Team recognition after finishing in a three-way tie for second with a combined score of 160. She shot a 79 on day one, countering with an 81 on day two. This is the second straight All-League nod for Conti, who was a First Team honoree last season, in addition to winning the league's Rookie of the Year.

Classmate Amanda Lee (Windsor, Conn./Ethel Walker School) and senior Madi Mendiola (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) each earned Second Team All-League honors, tying one another in the field for eighth overall. Both shot a combined score of 171. Lee shot and 85 on day one and an 86 in the Final Round, while Mendiola shot and 86 and 85. Both were honorees last season with Lee on Second Team and Mendiola on First Team.

Sophomore Allison Shilling (New Canaan, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) finished just outside the top-10, posting a combined score of 174 which put her 12th overall. She opened the event with a score of 86 and had an 88 on day two.

Rounding out the efforts for the Lyons was sophomore Heeamin Lee (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Brookline), who finished 19th overall with a score of 178. She shot a 90 in the First Round and better her score to an 88 on day two.

NYU finished the event with a score of 642, shooting a blistering 315 on day one and 327 to conclude the tournament. Mount Holyoke had a 676 (336-340), followed by Vassar (688--340-348), St. Lawrence (695--345-350), Wellesley (699--349-350), William Smith (749--374-375) and Union (766--393-373).
