Golf Currently 2nd After Day 1 of Liberty League Championships

GENEVA, N.Y. - After the opening day of action at the 2015 Liberty League Championships, hosted at the Clifton Springs Golf Club, the Mount Holyoke College golf team sits second of seven teams. The Lyons, who are vying for their second straight conference title, posted an opening round score of 336 and sit 21 strokes back behind first-place NYU (315). Leading the way for MHC is sophomore June Conti, who is third overall.

Conti (Amenia, N.Y./Miss Porter's School) opened with a First Round score of 79. She sits just two strokes behind second-place Alyssa Poentis of NYU (77) and three strokes behind NYU's Lina Kim, the overall leader with a score of 76.

Sophomore Amanda Lee (Windsor, Conn./Ethel Walker School) is locked in a tie for 11th after posting a score 85 in the opener. Senior Madi Mendiola (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) and sophomore Allison Shilling (New Canaan, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) are in a three-way tie for 13th, notching a score of 86.

Rounding out the efforts on day one was sophomore Heeamin Lee (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Brookline), who sits 19th overall with a score of 90.

NYU leads the team scoring with a total of 315. MHC (336) is second, followed by Vassar (340), St. Lawrence (345), Wellesley (349), William Smith (374) and Union (393).

Action at the Liberty League Championship concludes on Sunday with the morning tee offs beginning at 10am.
