SUFFERN, N.Y. - After the opening day of action at the 2014 NYU Invitational, the Mount Holyoke College golf team sits second of 12 teams. Leading the way is senior captain Madi Mendiola, who is currently in a tie for third overall with a first round score of 78. As a team, the Lyons posted a combined score of 321.

Mendiola is currently tied alongside Amherst's Zoe Wong. Leading the action through day one was Randolph-Macon College's Olivia Bowling, who posted a 72. Middlebury's Michelle Peng sits second overall with a 75.

MHC sophomore Heaamin Lee is currently fifth overall with a first round score of 79, while classmate June Conti is locked in a tie for 12th with a mark of 81. Sophomores Amanda Lee and Allison Shilling round out the field for the Lyons in 19th (83) and 32nd (88), respectively.

The host Violets currently lead the field after day one with a score of 320. MHC is one stroke behind with a score of 321, while Middlebury (325), Amherst (331) and Randolph-Macon (333) round out the top five.

Action at the NYU Invitational concludes on Sunday morning.
