Swimming & Diving Opens Action at 2017 NEWMAC Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. - The 2017 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimming & Diving Championships opened action on Thursday afternoon on the campus of WPI. After the opening session, which featured one event, the Lyons are currently ninth.

MHC took to the podium in the championship round of the 800-yard freestyle relay to kick things off, posting a time of 8:33.01 to place ninth overall. The relay team was comprised of first year Sarah Ratzlaff, sophomore Delany Berry, junior Claire Beckett and first year Natalie Burkett.

The Lyons also saw sophomore Monika Sharma, senior Tristan Strange, first year Jane Zhang and sophomore Kate Flaherty compete in the event, competing in the consolation final with a mark of 9:56.55.

The first full day of action at the NEWMAC Championships begins on Friday at 10am with the preliminary trials. Finals will start at 6:00pm. Prelims each day will be at 10am.
