Swimming & Diving Finishes 4th at 2017 Seven Sisters Championship

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The third and final session is in the books as the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team concluded action at the 2017 Seven Sisters Championship, hosted by Vassar College. The Lyons finished the meet in fourth-place, posting 512 points at the meet.

Sunday's action opened with another outstanding effort from first year diver Samantha Nemivant, who was fourth in the 3-meter event with 452.85 points. That mark also bested her own school record of 451.35, set last semester.

In the 1650-yard freestyle, the Lyons saw a number of solid efforts, led by first year Natalie Burkett, who touched the wall with a time of 20:00.83 - good for sixth overall. Classmate Sarah Ratzlaff was close behind in eighth with a time of 20:32.11, while sophomore Delany Berry posted 10th with a mark of 21:16.39.

Senior captain Anne Kuenning was solid in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing third overall with a time of 2:16.28. Junior Claire Beckett also finished well in the event, posting eighth with a time of 2:29.65.

In the 100-yard free, senior captain Emily Craig was fourth with a time of 57.13, while classmate Katie Tyler placed eighth overall with a mark of 58.26. Tyler went on to place fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:38.88.

In the final event of the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay, Kuenning, Ratzlaff, Burkett and Tyler combined for a time of 4:01.66. That mark saw them finish sixth overall.

Wellesley won this year's championship with a score of 1,175 points, followed by Smith in second with 803 points. The host Brewers were third with 683 points, followed by Mount Holyoke (512) and Bryn Mawr (378).

The Lyons return to action next Saturday when it travels to Simmons College for a 12pm dual meet against the Sharks.
