ARLINGTON, Va. -- Marymount University pounced early in building a 15-0 halftime lead on the way to a 23-3 non-conference win over the visiting Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team on Thursday, with five Saints scoring three or more goals.

Marymount (7-2) outshot Mount Holyoke (2-4) by a 34-11 margin and won 19 of 28 draws.

First-year Juliana Spaulding (Wakefield, Mass.) scored all three goals for Mount Holyoke, all in the second half -- it was Spaulding's fourth hat trick and sixth multi-goal effort in as many games this season. Junior Emi Bisson (Chester, Conn.) was held scoreless for only the second time in her career, but she assisted on two of Spaulding's goals.

Jillian Blair scored the first two goals inside the first five minutes of the game, and Blair finished with a game-high four goals and one assist to lead the Saints. Arayla Garcia, Tess Valentino, Natalia Ortiz and Ella Baker all added three goals apiece.

First-year Josie McFadden (Edmonton, Alberta) led Mount Holyoke with two caused turnovers, and first-year Valeria Bolanos (Newington, Conn.) made four saves. Three Marymount goalies combined to make eight saves.

The game was Mount Holyoke's second of the week in the Washington, D.C., area, following Monday's game at Hood College. Both games were first-time opponents for the Lyons.

Mount Holyoke will play at Emerson Saturday at 1pm in its second NEWMAC game of the year.
