Golf Finishes Sixth at the 2018 Liberty League Championships

CANTON, N.Y. - Sophomore Stephanie Spitzer finished fifth overall and the Mount Holyoke College golf team placed sixth at the 2018 Liberty League Championships, hosted by St. Lawrence University at its Appleton Golf Course. The Lyons owned a combined score of 339 after day one, which was the only round of competition due to inclement weather on Sunday that forced the final round cancellation. New York University won this year's title with a combined 297.

Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale) shot a 75 on Saturday, just three strokes over par to finish with All-Liberty League First Team honors for her efforts. Sophomore Susan Lee (Irvine, Calif./University HS) finished in a tie for 16th overall with a score of 81, while classmate Elizabeth Andrian (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) was 28th in the field, posting an 88 on Saturday.

First year Lahela Delaney (Honolulu, Hawaii/Roosevelt) was 37th with a score of 95, while sophomore Madi Gale (Poulsbo, Wash./Kingston) finished tied for 38th with a mark of 102.

Overall, NYU posted a stunning round with all five of their team members posting top-10 to capture the title. Ithaca was second overall with a mark of 308, followed by Wellesley with a 317. Vassar was fourth with a mark of 318, while Union rounded out the top five with a score of 333. Individually, Ithaca's Indiana Jones earned medalist honors, shooting a 71, one under par for the victory.

The Liberty League Championships concluded the 2017-18 season for the Lyons.
