Golf Sits Sixth At Ann S. Bathchelder Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke golf team kicked off it's 2017-18 season on Saturday, competing in day one of the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational, hosted by Wellesley. Through the first round of action, the Lyons sit in sixth place overall.

Leading the way for MHC is sophomore Stephanie Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central), who sits 17th overall after day one with a score of 82. In a tie for 24th, is first year Caitlyn Richmond (Northampton, Mass./Northampton) and sophomore Susan Lee (Irvine, Calif./University HS), both finishing with a score of 85.

Currently in 35th place, sophomore Elizabeth Andrian (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) finished day one with a score of 95. Close behind in 38th and 39th is sophomore Madi Gale (Poulsbo, Wash./Kingston) and first year Lahela Delaney (Honolulu, Hawaii/Roosevelt). Gale finished day one with a 106 mark, while Delaney had a score of 109.

As a team, the Lyons finished with a combined score of 347. Lee was among 21 golfers who recorded a birdie during the first day of action.

Amherst College currently holds the team lead through the first round, posting a score of 309. Williams College is close behind with an opening round of 311, followed by the host Blue in third with a 316. Middlebury is fourth with a 319, while the Vassar rounds out the top five with a score of 323.

Action at the Batchelder Invitational continues on Sunday at 9am.
