Golf Currently Seventh After Day 1 at Middlebury Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Day one of action at the 2017 Middlebury Invitational has concluded and after the opening round, the Mount Holyoke College golf team sits seventh of 12 teams. The Lyons posted a combined score of 359 through the first 18 holes. The host Panthers hold the overall lead through the first round with a mark of 320.

Leading the Lyons on day one was sophomore Elizabeth Andrian (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury), who shot an 87 on Saturday and currently sits 23rd overall in the field. Classmates Susan Lee (Irvine, Calif./University) and Stephanie Spitzer are close behind, both having posted a mark of 89 on day one to tie for 29th overall.

First year Lahela Delaney (Honolulu, Hawaii/Roosevelt) is currently tied for 44th overall, recording a 94 through the opening round, while classmate Caitlyn Richmond (Northampton, Mass./Northampton) is two strokes behind in 46th with a opening score of 96.

Middlebury leads the field with an opening score of 320, followed by Amherst College, which is just one stroke behind with a 321. Third-place is currently held by Vassar College with a score of 332, followed by Hamilton College in fourth with 335. Williams College rounds out the top-five iwth a score of 336.

Individually, Middlebury's Chloe Levins holds the outright lead for medalist honors, recording a 76 on Saturday. Amherst's Isabelle Ouyang and Vassar's Margaret Liu are tied for second with a score of 78.

Action at this year's event continues on Sunday beginning at 9am.
