With eighth year head coach Michelle Scecina leading the way, the Mount Holyoke basketball team posted an overall record of 7-17 in 2011-12.

The Lyons were one of the hottest teams in the NEWMAC down the stretch, winning four of their final five games. They closed out the year with consecutive victories over the Coast Guard Academy, Springfield College and Wheaton College.

Junior guard Angelica Pascual set the tone with her outstanding production from the wing. In addition to pouring in a team-best 11.8 points per game, she also contributed 44 assists and 28 steals. The captain drained 33 shots from beyond the arc and converted 81.4% (35-43) of her free throw attempts. In 23 games played, she reached double digits in the scoring column 13 times.

Pascual was nearly unstoppable in Mount Holyoke's 66-53 triumph over Western New England University at the Golden Bears Hoops Classic on November 20. In addition to pouring in a game-high 20 points, she also chipped in with five rebounds, five assists and five steals. Later in the year, she boosted the Lyons to a 63-51 win over Coast Guard with her 23 points on January 14. Pascual will enter her senior season needing just 139 points to reach 1,000 for her career.

First year Amber Legare made an immediate impact on the program with her outstanding play in the post. In addition to recording 9.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, she also piled up 38 blocked shots and 36 steals. The forward reached double digits in the scoring column 11 times and totaled four double-doubles.

Legare erupted for 21 points and four blocked shots in Mount Holyoke's dramatic 59-57 triumph over Coast Guard on February 11.  Four days later, she led the Lyons to a 64-53 win over Springfield with her 12 points and 11 rebounds. It was their first victory over the Pride since the 2006-07 season.

Mount Holyoke wrapped up the year with a thrilling 66-62 triumph over Wheaton on February 18. Trailing 59-55 with just over three minutes remaining in regulation, the Lyons reeled off nine straight points at never looked back. Legare erupted for 19 points in the contest.

Over the course of the season, guards Christine Chancy and Annabel Barrett recorded 8.2 points per game. Meanwhile, senior forward Tricia Chase chipped in with 6.0 points and 5.1 boards per outing, and junior guard Jasmine Brown dished out a team-high 70 assists.

At the conclusion of the year, Scecina, Legare and Chase were featured guests on ESPN Springfield's "College Weekly".
