Eight Riding Student-Athletes Garner IHSA Senior Academic Achievement Award

Gladys, Va. - May 6, 2021 - Six student-athletes on the Mount Holyoke College varsity hunter seat team have been recognized for their commitment to academics as well as athletics and were selected for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Senior Academic Achievement Award following the 2020-21 academic year. In addition to the six on the varsity hunter seat team that were recognized, there were also a pair of student-athletes from the Mount Holyoke College western team on the list of award recipients.

This award recognizes graduating seniors who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher based on a 4.0 scale. To be considered the applicant must have been on an IHSA equestrian team for a minimum of two years if they attended a four-year college or university, or one year if they attended a two-year institution. 

Recognized from Mount Holyoke College includes: Haluwa Jefwa (Northampton, Mass.), Sinead O'Sullivan (Worcester, Mass.), Libby Sams (Atlanta, Ga.), Sabrina Talir (Kirkwood, Mo.), Luhan Wang (Nanjing, China) and Menghan Xiao (Beijing, China). Also included from the Mount Holyoke College western team was Emilia Palascak and Peyton Kim-Latona.

Among the 16 institutions that had student-athletes recognized with the IHSA Senior Academic Achievement Award, Mount Holyoke College's eight recipients was the most, just ahead of seven student-athletes from Dartmouth College.
