Senior Sabrina Talir (Kirkwood, Mo.), a Biology major and riding student-athlete at Mount Holyoke College, will graduate at the completion of the Spring 2021 semester.

Talir began her career as a rider at Mount Holyoke College in impressive fashion, placing first overall in Walk-Trot-Canter at the Mount Holyoke Show on October 28 and the Smith Show on November 4, before producing another victory at the Mount Holyoke Show on March 3. As a sophomore, Talir took first in Walk-Trot-Canter at the Mount Holyoke Show on October 27. After traveling abroad the first semester of her junior year, Talir came back to Mount Holyoke College and delivered a second-place finish in the Novice Flat on February 29, qualifying herself for Regionals in the process.

From Head Mount Holyoke Riding Coach, CJ Law:

"Sabrina is a very dedicated rider and puts a lot of effort into anything that she is working on. She is very methodical about her thought process and trying to do as well as she can regardless of the situation. Sabrina set many goals that she wanted to accomplish before graduation from Mount Holyoke, and even though this year was difficult, she rose to the challenge and improved immensely. She was such an asset to me this spring semester, being my only senior and officer on campus. I was really able to lean on Sabrina and count on her reliability, and she was so supportive of me and our program. Friends for life!"

More about Sabrina...

Overall, share a few sentences about your time as a student-athlete at Mount Holyoke College. How has your experience as a student-athlete help develop you into the person you are today?

Being a student athlete has been both challenging and rewarding, but most of all it had been such a wonderful experience! I have made some of the best friends and have learned meaningful life lessons about leaderships, teamwork, and time management.

What were some of your favorite memories as a member of your team?

My favorite memories are the nights before home shows when the team really comes together to make the barn spotless and beautiful for a successful show the next day.

What are your plans following graduation?

I plan to do some covid-safe traveling and then find a job as a lab assistant. Eventually I would like to go to graduate school.

Who have been some of your biggest supporters during your time at Mount Holyoke College? This can be anyone (i.e. family, friends, professors, coaches, etc.)

Craig Woodard, Amy Camp, Alan van Giessen, and CJ Law have all supported me during my time at MHC. My friends and family have supported me throughout my entire life and through college.

What is your favorite Mount Holyoke tradition?

I love the energy and enthusiasm that comes with convocation! It is a great way to start off the year.

Any words of advice you have for the future student-athletes of Mount Holyoke College?

My advice would be to enjoy every second at MHC. Even the late nights working on essays or the early mornings going to practice. We are so lucky to be able to live, study, and practice, in such a wonderful place!
