Mount Holyoke College Athletics to Offer Weekday Virtual Zoom Workouts

South Hadley, Mass. - April 9, 2020 - Beginning on Monday, April 13, the Mount Holyoke College Department of Physical Education and Athletics will be providing a virtual platform for drop-in workout classes which will be hosted by Jessica Carey. Classes will be hosted on Zoom from Monday through Friday each week with the last class occuring on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

Classes are only offered to Mount Holyoke College faculty, staff, alumnae and students.

Below is a breakdown of what is offered each day of the week. Participants can do this in the comfort and privacy of your own home, no equipment needed (yoga mat is helpful if you own one). All levels are welcome and modifications will be offered. 

YogaFit (Offered on Monday's and Friday's from 12:10 p.m. - 1 p.m.)

YogaFit is a fitness-based yoga class that focuses strength and endurance in a Hatha yoga practice.  Incorporating poses and postures that enhance balance, improve flexibility and build core strength.  The result is a mind-body workout that improves health, athletic performance and mental acuity in people of all ages and fitness levels.  All levels are welcome and modifications will be provided.

Pilates (Offered on Tuesday's from 12:10 p.m. - 1 p.m.)

A full-body mat workout with an emphasis on core strength and flexibility. Benefits of regular practice include increased muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, improved posture, better alignment, enhanced body awareness, and longer, leaner muscles.  All levels are welcome and modifications will be provided.

Restorative Yoga (Offered on Wednesday's from 12:10 p.m. - 1 p.m.)

This Hatha Yoga practice is a gentle, flowing style of poses that helps lengthen and open the body as well as clear the mind. All levels are welcome and modifications will be provided.

Conditioning (Offered on Thursday's from 12:10 p.m. - 1 p.m.)

In this total body strength training class you will use your own body weight – no equipment needed!  Modifications will be offered so beginners to advanced are all welcome!
