Track & Field Wraps-Up Action at ECAC Championships

TROY, N.Y. - The Mount Holyoke College track & field team concluded action at the 2014 ECAC Championships on Friday. The event, which is hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, saw several outstanding efforts on day two, including a top-three finish for sophomore captain Camille Coklow in the 100-meter dash.

Coklow (Chicago, Ill./The Latin School of Chicago), who posted a season's best time of 12.07 during Thursday's preliminaries, placed third overall in the 100-meter event with a finals mark of 12.12.

Also in action was junior Amber Legare (Chicopee, Mass./Chicopee Comprehensive), who finished competing in the seven-event Heptathlon. During Friday's final events she finished seventh in the long jump with a mark of 4.92 meters, fourth in the javelin with a distance of 28.25 meters and was 13th in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:00.74.

Legare, who posted a total of 3,595 points in the event, finished 11th in the 100-meter hurdles, posting a time of 17.37. She also placed 12th in the high jump with a mark of 1.36 meters and went on to win the shot put event, recording a career-best mark of 10.99 meters, before concluding the day with an eighth-place mark of 27.94 in the 200-meter dash.

The Lyons now await selections to the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Coklow is currently in the top-20 with her 12.07 run from Thursday at ECACs. Official announcement is expected this Sunday.
