Track & Field Competes at New England DIII Championships

 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Several members of the Mount Holyoke College track & field team were in action on Saturday at the New England Division III Championships. There were a number of outstanding efforts, including a seasons' best mark in the weight throw for senior captain Kristina Weld.

Weld (Warwick, Mass./Pioneer Valley Regional) posted a distance of 13.90 meters in the weight throw to finish 13th overall. Junior captain Dana Fry (Tempe, Ariz./Miss Porter's School (Conn.) also had a great effort, finishing 16th in the 5000-meter run. She notched a time of 19:01.95.

Additionally, the Lyons 4x200 relay team was 18th with a time of 2:04.82. Members of the foursome included first year Tina Lugor (Greensboro, N.C./Dudley), juniors Sarah Fleming (Elk Grove, Calif./Sacramento Country Day School) and Gretchen Rowe (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) and first year Hannah Feinman (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan).

Select members of the squad return to action on Friday at the Open New England Championships in Boston.
